GRAMBLING---Grambling State Head Softball Coach
Wilbert Early is proud to announce the signing of Morgan Butler for the 2011-2012 season.
The Carrollton, Texas native is a highly touted utility player that lettered at Hebron High School where she received 2010 All District Honorable Mention and the 2010 Hawk Heart Award. Butler was noted for hitting two walk off homeruns in the 2010 play offs while helping lead her team to the high school state semifinals.
An all around student-athlete Butler excelled academically. As a member of the National Honor Society she was named to the All District Academic Team in 2009. Butler is very active in her community serving as a volunteer at the St. Louis School for Special Needs and Salvation Army among various mission trips.
“She's one of the top catchers in the country, very astute behind the plate. We've been after her for quite a while and got a good steal,” said GSU Head Softball Coach
Wilbert Early. “She has really good power, a strong arm and can play multiple positions third, first and is really good calling pitches behind the plate. She has the ability to come in and be a leader.”
