CLINTON, Miss. | The Grambling State University men's and women's cross country teams competed on Saturday morning at the Mississippi College Choctaw Invitational, hosted by Mississippi College.

The GSU men's team placed third overall in the 8K race out of eight schools. The Tigers finished with 83 points as Louisiana-Lafayette won the race with 33 points. Louisiana-Monroe placed second just three points ahead of Grambling State with 80 points. Jackson State (97), Northwestern State (100), New Orleans (137), Nicholls State (187) and Mississippi Valley State (200) rounded out the eight-team field.

Hassan Chepkwony finished seventh, with a time of 26:06.95, to pace the Grambling State men. Aaron Koech (27:05.29) and
Noah Rugut (27:05.29) placed 13th and 15th, respectively. Jeremiah Kimeli (23rd) completed the race, with a time of 23.08:62, and Hilary Kiprop (31st) at 28:55.46.

On the women's side, the Lady Tigers placed seventh out of 13 schools at the meet. Grambling State finished with 180 points, while Louisiana-Lafayette won the 5K race with 38 points. Georgia Second (58), Mississippi Valley State (132), Northwestern State (141), Louisiana-Monroe (150) and Louisiana Tech (151) finished ahead of the Lady Tigers. Alabama A&M (190), Nicholls State (217), Alcorn State (234), Southern (251), Jackson State (273) and New Orleans (332) rounded out the field.

Naomi Kiprop finished 16th to lead Grambling State, with a time of 19:42.45.
Halima Chepkwony (26th) finished with a time of 20:13.19, while
Priscilla Kibet (33rd) completed the race at 20:20:16 and
Tichina Lewis (44th) at 21:35.17. Also finishing the race for the Lady Tigers were Abigael Jebet (68th), Brooklyn Addison (73rd),
Azah Cummins (76th) and
Kyra Canty (82nd).
