Grambling, LA--- The Grambling State Lady Tigers tennis team picked up a big win, 4-3, over the Lady Muleriders of Southern Arkansas today in their season opener on the GSU campus.
Playing shorthanded, in their only match of the semester, the Lady Tigers down by three points stormed back to overcome the deficit by winning three consecutive matches to steal the win.
Maia Semerdjieva and Malaina Davis began the comeback at number one doubles winning 8-4. Davis then won 6-0, 6-3 over SAU's Elizabeth Colvin at number two singles. Semerdjieva clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win at number one singles defeating Megan Phinny.
With the match tied at 3-3, the winner was determined by total games won with the Lady Tigers easily capturing the tiebreaker for the victory.
The Lady Tigers (1-0) will not play again until they travel to the University of New Orleans on January 30th.
