Christian Marquez went 1-0 last week on the mound to help Grambling State pick up an 8-7 victory at FIU. Against the Panthers, he worked one inning in relief and gave up just one hit and struck up a pair. Marquez earned the start against No. 14 LSU. Last year, Marquez didn’t survive the first inning against LSU, but this year was a completely different story. Despite not getting a decision, Marquez went five strong innings and gave up one run on four hits. He fanned five and walked just one against one.
