Position Overview:
Grambling State University Athletics is seeking motivated and detail-oriented Sports Operations Interns to support the operational aspects of our athletic programs. This internship offers hands-on experience in sports management and event operations, providing an opportunity to contribute to the success of our athletic department.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and execution of athletic events, including home games, tournaments, and special events.
- Coordinate facility usage schedules, oversee setup and breakdown of equipment, and address any facility-related issues as they arise.
- Provide support for game-day operations including breakdown and set up.
- Assist with inventory management of athletic equipment, uniforms, and supplies. Coordinate the distribution, collection, and maintenance of equipment for athletic teams, ensuring proper care and storage.
- Assist with tracking expenses and maintaining budgets for athletic events and operations. Help reconcile invoices, process payments, and track expenditures to ensure financial accountability.
- Provide general administrative support to the sports operations team, including filing documents, organizing records, and preparing reports. Assist with special projects and initiatives as assigned by department leadership.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a student at Grambling State University, with a strong interest in sports management or event planning.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take initiative to complete tasks independently.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support athletic events and operations.
