Position Overview:
Grambling State University Athletics is seeking two highly motivated and organized Administration Interns to provide valuable support to the athletics department's administrative operations. These internships offer hands-on experience in sports administration and event management, as well as exposure to various aspects of collegiate athletics.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with general office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, and greeting visitors. Maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere in the athletics department office.
- Enter confidential data into spreadsheets and databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information.
- Support the planning and execution of athletic events, including home games and special events.
- Assist with logistics, scheduling, and coordination of facilities, equipment, and personnel as needed.
- Aid in the promotion of athletic events and initiatives through various channels, including social media, email newsletters, and promotional materials.
- Help distribute marketing materials and engage with fans to increase attendance and support for athletic programs.
- Assist with on-site operations during home games and events, including setup and breakdown of facilities and hospitality services. Provide support to staff to ensure smooth and successful events.
- Collaborate on special projects and initiatives as assigned by athletics department staff. This may include research, data analysis, and preparation of reports or presentations on topics related to athletics administration.
- Draft and proofread correspondence, memos, and other written materials as needed. Assist with communication efforts to student-athletes, coaches, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Assist with inventory management of athletic equipment, supplies, and materials. Help coordinate the ordering, distribution, and maintenance of equipment and uniforms for athletic teams.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a student at Grambling State University, with a strong interest in sports management, business administration, or related fields.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take initiative to complete tasks independently.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support athletic events and operations.
