Athletics Administration Intern (2 positions)

Position Overview:
Grambling State University Athletics is seeking two highly motivated and organized Administration Interns to provide valuable support to the athletics department's administrative operations. These internships offer hands-on experience in sports administration and event management, as well as exposure to various aspects of collegiate athletics.
Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with general office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, and greeting visitors. Maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere in the athletics department office.
  2. Enter confidential data into spreadsheets and databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness of information. 
  3. Support the planning and execution of athletic events, including home games and special events. 
  4. Assist with logistics, scheduling, and coordination of facilities, equipment, and personnel as needed.
  5. Aid in the promotion of athletic events and initiatives through various channels, including social media, email newsletters, and promotional materials. 
  6. Help distribute marketing materials and engage with fans to increase attendance and support for athletic programs.
  7. Assist with on-site operations during home games and events, including setup and breakdown of facilities and hospitality services. Provide support to staff to ensure smooth and successful events.
  8. Collaborate on special projects and initiatives as assigned by athletics department staff. This may include research, data analysis, and preparation of reports or presentations on topics related to athletics administration.
  9. Draft and proofread correspondence, memos, and other written materials as needed. Assist with communication efforts to student-athletes, coaches, staff, and external stakeholders.
  10. Assist with inventory management of athletic equipment, supplies, and materials. Help coordinate the ordering, distribution, and maintenance of equipment and uniforms for athletic teams.
Qualifications: 
  • Currently enrolled as a student at Grambling State University, with a strong interest in sports management, business administration, or related fields.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take initiative to complete tasks independently.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support athletic events and operations.
