Rafael Ramirez III was selected the Grambling State University Male Athlete of the Week.
Ramirez, who has earned the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hitter of the Week honor for the second time this season, was key in the Tigers going 4-1 last week, including 2-1 in conference play. He batted .529, with an on-base percentage of .500 and a slugging percentage of 1.471 in five games.
Ramirez went 9-for-17 at the plate, with five home runs, one double and one walk. He drove in 12 and scored six times. He went 2-for-4, with five runs batted in and two runs scored, along with the game-tying homer in the ninth as Grambling State beat Southern, 19-18, in 10 innings. He registered two homers in the series opener vs. Southern and two more in the second game of the series. The five homers also shot him up the conference ranking last week.
