Rafael Ramirez, III was named the Grambling State University Male Student-Athlete of the Week.
Ramirez batted .438, with a .500 on-base percentage and a 1.062 slugging percentage in four games last week. He went 7-for-16 at the plate, with three home runs and one double. Also was hit by a pitch twice. He scored seven times and drove in 11.
Ramirez had a solo home run in the Tigers’ 9-7 win over Louisiana-Monroe, which snapped an eight-game losing streak to the Warhawks. In the series opener against Southern, Ramirez went 2-for-4, including a grand slam. He added to his RBI count in the opener of a doubleheader against Southern on Saturday with a three-run homer. Ramirez has now hit a team-high 12 homer this season.
