Jazmin Boyd was named the Grambling State University Female Athlete of the Week.
Boyd, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, averaged 17.5 points per game in Grambling's two contests this past week, posting sparkling shooting percentages. Boyd scored a team-best 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including a 3-of-4 line from beyond the arc, in the Lady Tigers' Nov. 20 game at Texas-Arlington.
Versus Alabama on Nov. 23, Boyd poured in another 17 points, leading the team in scoring against the Crimson Tide. She also nabbed four rebounds and dealt a pair of assists.
A recent member of Grambling's 1,000-point club, Boyd averaged 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in addition to her scoring. She shot 62.5 percent from the floor in the pair of tilts, including a 55.6 percentage from three-point land. Boyd ranks 10th in the league in scoring (12.0), sixth in free throw shooting (76.5 percent) and fourth in three-pointers made per game (1.8).
