GSU Struggles in Loss to Texas Southern

Allan Saint-Gelais turned in 12 points and six rebounds in loss to TSU
HOUSTON---The Grambling State Tigers suffered a road loss, 87-66, this evening to the Tigers of Texas Southern.
 
GSU struggled from the opening tip as they fell behind, 12-4, at the 16:24 mark. They fought furiously but never could come closer than 15-11 (12:12) as Texas Southern pulled away with a, 41-26, lead at the half.
 
In the first half Grambling shot 10-of-22 for 45-percent from the floor. They were out rebounded 18-13 and struggled with turnovers having notched14.
 
In the second half Grambling's woes continued as they never could gain any footing. They shot only 43-percent from the field but did manage to make it up at the free throw line where they shot 12-of-16. Grambling finished with 24 total turnovers but did have steady defensive pressure as they forced 19 turnovers from TSU. The two teams were comparable on the boards with TSU holding a slight rebounding edge 31-28.
 
GSU was led by Donald Qualls with 20 points. Rupert Rose had 13 points and Allan Saint-Gelais turned in 12 points and six rebounds.
 
Texas Southern's Deandre Hall had a game high 32 points. Travele Jones had 21 points, while Aaron Clayborn added 18 points and seven rebounds.
 
Gambling will return to action Monday night as they remain in Texas and travel over to Prairie View to face the Panthers of Prairie View A&M at 7:30 pm.
