Lady Tigers Take Three-Game Series over Prairie View

Angela Perez had a three run homerun while picking up a win against Prairie View
GRAMBLING--- The Grambling State Lady Tigers softball team took a three-game series 2-1 over the Lady Panthers of Prairie View A&M this weekend at Lady Tigers field on the GSU campus.
 
GAME I
GSU 9 – PVU 1(4 ½ innings)
The Lady Tigers scattered five hits over four innings but put the game away with four runs in the first after Raven Turners two RBI double with one out. Holding the Lady Panthers scoreless Grambling would add two runs in the second and three in the third to put the eight-run rule into effect. Prairie View scored their lone run in the top of the fifth.
 
Along with Turner, Latrice Wood had a RBI double for the Lady Tigers. In the circle Brandi Payne picked up the win allowing only four hits with two strikeouts.
 
Artavia Woods went 2-for-2 for the Lady Panthers with an RBI. Bridget Coronado took the loss after giving up nine runs on five hits with six baseballs and four strikeouts.
 
GAME II
GSU 12 – PVU 7
Game two was a nip and tuck battle throughout the first five innings with the Lady Tigers holding a 7-6 lead after five and a half. In the sixth however the Lady Tigers put the game away erupting for five runs highlighted by pitcher Angela Perez's two out three run homer.
 
Kiara Dedeaux went 3-for-4 at the plate for the Lady Tigers with two runs scored and three RBI's, Turner was 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI as Taylour Smith went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Perez picked up the win going seven innings with six strikeouts and no base on balls.
 
For PVU Darlene Salinas was 3-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI's; Kesha Hagerman was 3-for-4 with two RBI's.  Brittanie Garden received the lost after going six innings allowing 12 runs, 15 hits with five base on balls.
 
GAME III
GSU 0 – PVU 3
The Lady Tigers would never get on track offensively in the final game of the series scattering four hits over the course of the game. The Lady Panthers would take a 1-0 lead in the second on an unearned run and tack on two more on a Coronado homerun in the fourth.
 
Payne would take the loss giving up the two runs in a complete game effort also allowing eight hits with four strikeouts.
 
Coronado who picked up the when in the circle also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a run scored and two RBI's. Hagerman also had two hits.
