NORMAN, Okla. (Baseball) – The Grambling State University baseball team closed their series out with the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. on Wednesday night. The Tigers fought hard but were overcome by the Sooners with a score of 10-2.
With the loss, Grambling has an overall record of 2-3, while Oklahoma moves to 4-1.
In the first inning, OU was able to pick up two quick runs in the bottom of the first inning.
The G-Men answered back with two runs in the top of the second inning. The first run came when
Rafael Ramirez, III hit a home run to right field to score himself and
Johan Mojica, 2-2. Mojica doubled to left center to reach second base and advanced to third base as Alexander Felder hit a sacrifice bunt.
The game remained tied until the fourth inning when the Sooners subdued the Tigers rally and began a scoring barrage. For the fourth and fifth inning, Oklahoma racked up a combined eight runs over the two innings.
Jonathan Reid (0-1) suffered the loss for GSU on the mound with 3.2 innings pitched for six hits, four earned runs, three walks, and two strike outs.
Ryan Madden (0-1) picked up the win for the Sooners with 4.2 innings pitched for three hits, two earned runs, two walks, and five strike outs.
Grambling will travel to Thibodaux, La. for the Mardi Gras Invitational Tournament hosted by Nicholls State University from Feb. 24-26.
