NACOGDOCHES, Texas (Baseball) -- The Grambling State University baseball team took to the road to face Stephen F. Austin University in a midweek matchup on Tuesday evening. The Tigers fought hard but were defeated with a score of 9-2.
Grambling moves to 5-8 on the season. Stephen F. Austin improves to 5-9.
The Lumberjacks scored two runs in the first inning, two runs in the third inning, two runs in the fifth inning, and three runs in the sixth inning, 9-0.
The Tigers would finally get on the board in the top of the seventh inning. The two runs came when Alexander Felder homered to right field to score himself and
Daniel Barnett, 9-2. Barnett singled to left field to reach first base.
???????Felder carried the big bat for GSU going 2-of-3 for one run and two runs batted in.
Jonathan Reid (0-2) suffered the loss with one inning pitched for one hit, two earned runs and three walks.
Tony Grabowske (2-1) picked up the win on the mound for the Jacks with six inning pitched for three hits, one walk and 10 strikeouts.
The Tigers will resume Southwestern Athletic Conference play against Southern University from March 10-12.
