GSU finishes seventh at Rattler Invitational

PENSACOLA, Fla. | The Grambling State University women's bowling team picked up a pair of wins over the weekend and finished seventh at the Florida A&M University (FAMU) Rattler Invitational.
 
Grambling State (8-63) opened tournament play with losses to Belmont Abbey, Texas Southern, Bethune-Cookman, Florida A&M and Alabama State. The Lady Tigers dropped matches on Saturday to Alabama A&M, Southern, Bethune-Cookman and Belmont Abbey, but picked up an 857-798 victory over Texas Southern.
 
Against Texas Southern Kayra Carter led the way with a team-high 198, while Laurencia Harmon and Ariel Henderson rolled 192 and 190, respectively.
 
On Sunday, Grambling State, which finished the tournament with 6,980 total pinfall and a 139.6 average, fell to Alabama A&M, 4-2, in bracket play, and dropped a 4-1 decision to Florida A&M. GSU got another chance at the Lady Bulldogs, besting Alabama A&M, 4-3, to claim seventh place.
