GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team will look to repeat last year's successful run through the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Soccer Tournament as the Lady Tigers will face off against Arkansas-Pine Bluff in the opening round.
Grambling State (12-7) is the top seed and will face Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the No. 8 seed, at 10 a.m. on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the 2018 SWAC Women's Soccer Tournament at the Prairie View A&M Soccer Field. The winner of that match will meet the winner of Alabama State (No. 4)/Prairie View A&M (No. 5) at 3 p.m. on Friday.
On the other side of the bracket, Texas Southern (No. 3) will take on Alabama A&M (No. 6) and the winner will meet either Howard (No. 2) or Southern (No. 7) in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
The Lady Tigers, who are seeking their first tournament title since 2006, come into the tournament having won nine conference matches, including the last seven on shutout victories. Grambling State has not conceded a goal in 660 minutes, while
Kaylee Holt has scored a goal in seven straight games and nine out of the last 10 games. The last time Grambling State surrendered a goal was on Sept. 28, a 1-0 loss to Howard.
The 2018 SWAC Women's Soccer Championship will be played at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The semifinals and championship games will be streamed lived on the SWAC Digital Network.
