Tigers in the NFL: Week 16

Grambling State University has five former student-athletes playing professionally on Thursdays and Sundays in the National Football League (NFL) – Chester Rogers (Indianapolis Colts), Chad Williams (Arizona Cardinals), Trenton Scott (Los Angeles Chargers), Montrel Meander (Oakland Raiders) and Martez Carter (New Orleans Saints).
 
Rogers and the Colts continued their playoff push on Sunday with a thrilling, 28-27, home win over the New York Giants. Rogers caught the game-winning score, a 1-yard TD reception, with 55 seconds remaining to give Indianapolis the lead. Rogers finished with seven catches (targeted for seven) for 55 yards and the important touchdown score. In addition, he had two punt returns for three yards.

Williams and the Arizona Cardinals fell to the Los Angeles Rams, 31-9. Williams registered one catch (targeted four times) for seven yards.

Scott and the Los Angeles Chargers fell to 11-4 after a 22-10 home loss on Saturday night to the Baltimore Ravens. Los Angeles, which still controls its destiny for the AFC West title, finished with 14 first downs and just 198 total yards against the Ravens.

Meander did not see action in the Oakland Raiders' 27-14 victory over the Denver Broncos.

Carter has had a bit of a roller coaster ride thus far in New Orleans. He was released just a few days after signing with the Saints practice squad. However, just a day after being release, he was signed back on the practice squad as former Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett was released. The Saints defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-28, to clinch home field throughout the playoffs.
