Box Score RUSTON, La. | The Grambling State University women's tennis team started strong, but were unable to hold off Oral Roberts as the Lady Tigers fell, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon.

Grambling State (0-3) started strong in doubles play as the team of
Idah Longwe and
Bryttish Burts picked up a 6-2 win over Ceijenia Cornelius and Andrea Vasiljevic at No. 1 and the Lady Tigers secured the doubles point at No. 3 when
Yuliia Popova and
Danna Galeano defeated Valentina Gisbert and Brenda Mercado, 7-6 (7-4).

As play shifted to singles action, Oral Roberts (3-4) won four straight matches to clinch the win. Grambling State's lone win came at No. 1 when Popova battled with Antonijevic for nearly two hours and 15 minutes to earn a 7-5, 3-6, 5-2 (retired) victory.

Grambling State returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 6 in Ruston, La. to take on Northwestern State. Play begins at 3 p.m. on the campus of Louisiana Tech University.
