NACOGDOCHES, Texas | The Grambling State University baseball team began a stretch of four games in five days with a 14-3 loss to Stephen F. Austin at Jaycees Field on Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers (12-10) opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the first inning.
Cameron Shannon led off the game with a walk and advanced to third when
Garrett Smith doubled to left.
Marshawn Taylor brought Shannon in on a ground out to the shortstop to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.
Richard Ortiz followed with a base hit down the left field line to plate Smith as Grambling State led 2-0.
Stephen F. Austin (5-15) answered in the bottom of the second with three runs and took a 5-2 advantage with two runs in the third.
The Lumberjacks extended the lead to 9-2 with three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth.
Stephen F. Austin put the game away in the seventh with five runs on five hits and took advantage of an error to take a 14-2 advantage.
