Box Score 2 PINE BLUFF, Ark.| The Grambling State University softball team dropped a pair of games on Sunday afternoon to Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play at the Torri Hunter Softball Complex.
The Lady Golden Lions (11-19 overall, 8-3 SWAC) took the opener, 7-3, and defeated the Lady Tigers (8-22, 0-10) in the second game, 6-2.
Game 1 (7-3 loss)
Arkansas-Pine Bluff used a four-run first inning and led 5-0 through three innings before Grambling State was able to plate two runs.
The Lady Tigers scored two runs in the fourth as
Tayler Lenz-Selvera connected on a two-run homer to cut the deficit to 5-2.
But that would be as close as the Lady Tigers would get as UAPB added one run in the fifth and one in the sixth to pick up the 7-3 victory.
Game 2 (6-2 loss)
The Lady Golden Lions used a three-run first inning to grab a quick 3-0 lead.
Grambling State picked up a run in the top half of the third when
Monique Smith reached on a fielder's choice as
Hailey Haynes came in to score. However, UAPB answered with a run in the bottom of the frame to take a 4-1 advantage.
Versace Hicks-Butler brought in Lenz-Selvera on a ground out to cut the deficit to 4-2 in the fourth, but Arkansas-Pine Bluff proved to be too much with the 6-2 win.
Inside The Numbers
* In the opener, Grambling State finished with three runs on three hits, stranded four and committed five errors.

Tayler Lenz-Selvera and
Tia Coleman each had one hit.

D'Maria Matthews (2-9) took the loss as she gave up seven runs (five earned) on seven hits, with two walks and one strikeout in six innings of work.
* Arkansas-Pine Bluff added seven runs on seven hits, committed two errors and left five on base.
* Karia Hall pitched seven innings and surrendered two runs on three hits, with three strikeouts and two walks to pick up the win.
* In the second game, Grambling State registered two runs on five hits, committed four errors and stranded eight baserunners.

Caitlin McDowell (6-9) took the loss as she was tagged for six runs on 11 hits, with two strikeouts and a pair of walks.
* Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished with six runs on 11 hits, had five errors and left 10 on base.
* Angelique Ramos (5-7) picked up the win in seven innings as she gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits, fanned one and walked one.

Grambling State returns to action on Monday with a trip to Tyler, Texas to take on Texas College. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
