PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas l The Grambling State University women's soccer team netted a big first round victory in the quarterfinals round of the 2019 Southwestern Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament with a 1-0 win over fourth seed Alabama A&M University on Thursday.
The Lady Tigers took nine shots in the game compared to their opponents' four, but weren't able to to capitalize until the final 15 games of the game after earning a penalty kick.

Florence David stepped up to score the penalty goal that would be the game winner.
"This was a great battle tonight from two passionate teams," said head coach
Justin Wagar. "I'm happy we rose to the occasion and played great defensively, limiting their opportunities all night until the final whistle was blown."

Grambling State will play in the semifinals round on Friday, Nov. 8, in a rematch of last year's championship game, against defending tournament champions Howard University.
