MONTGOMERY, Ala. l The Grambling State University soccer team scored their biggest win over Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contender Alabama State University since 2009 with a 5-0 win over the Yellow Jackets on Friday evening.
The Lady Tigers came out scoring two goals in the first three minutes and added a third goal in the 15th minute to take the 3-0 lead going into the half.
How it Happend
Kailey Pena scored her third goal of the year just 59 seconds into the match, off an assists from Sarah Teubner and Michaela Danyo.
Freshmen mid-fielder Zenaya Barnes secured her first collegiate goal at the 2:11 mark, after tapping in a Miranda Urbizu cross.
Sarah Teubner scored her second goal on the season with a great lofted ball over the keepers head to the side netting after a loose ball near the flank to make it 3-0. That score would hold until 1 minute 45 seconds into the second half when Barnes struck again after stealing the ball in the box and beating the keeper.
The cherry on top came in the 79th minute as red-shirt freshman, Lindsay Jaiyesimi scored her first collegiate goal on a nice through ball she slotted by the keeper after another assist by Miranda Urbizu.

The Lady Tigers (4-6-1 Overall, 1-0 SWAC) will take on Alabama A&M on Sunday, Sept. 29. The match starts at 1 p.m at the GSU Soccer Complex.
