WEST MONROE, La. | Grambling State University's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Academy Sports + Outdoors of West Monroe teamed up to make the holidays a little brighter for the children at the
Boys and Girls Club of North Louisiana. To celebrate the season, they surprised each child with a virtual shopping spree and helped them pick up their orders curbside at Academy.

"Grambling initially reached out to our marketing department," said Academy Sports of West Monroe store director Jeff Woods. "It is something we do all across the country with Academy Sports and historic black colleges and universities (HBCU's). We were honored to have Grambling athletic director
Dr. David Ponton, GSU SAAC members and the director of the Boys and Girls Club of North Louisiana as we awarded them with a total of $1,000 worth of gift cards for holiday gifts for local children."
"It is geared towards ethics and good quality traits," said Woods. "I know that Grambling partners a lot with the Boys and Girls Club and volunteers at their events, so we wanted to take part and give back to the community."
