Box Score GAINSVILLE, Fla. | The Grambling State University women's basketball team fell behind by 13 points early and could not recover in a 90-47 loss to Florida in their season opener on Wednesday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
Florida (1-0) led, 23-10, at the end of one quarter and took a, 41-16, lead into the break.
Grambling State (0-1) picked up on scoring in the third quarter registering 18 points in the period, but could not rally from the deficit.
Candice Parramore led the Lady Tigers offense with 12 points.
Two Gators tallied a double-double including Kiara Smith with 20 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and four steals. Lavender Briggs chipped in 13 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Head Coach Freddie Murray:
"Tough game today wasn't the outcome we were hoping for but we saw a lot of good things to build on moving forward".
