Box Score 2 GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State Tigers swept NAIA opponent Texas College in a double header on Fat Tuesday. The wins snapped a four-game skid for the G-Men.

The Tigers dominated game one and got off to a hot start when
Rafael Ramirez, III produced a two-RBI double that brought home
Miguel Medina and
Nehemiah Wright to give Grambling a 2-0 lead. Moments later,
Jordyn Smith generated a double to right field which brought home Ramirez.
In the second inning, Smith flexed his muscles and hit a grand slam which ultimately put an end to the Steers hopes. Smith finished with a game-high five RBI while teammate
Jake Lane finished with a team-high three hits.
Boykins, Jr. was credited with the win as he struck out five batters and gave up eight hits in the win.

Grambling fell behind 3-0 in the first inning as the Canadian native
Corben Peters struggled early, giving up three earned runs in two innings, but he managed to strike out two Steer batters before being relieved by
Grant Landry. The Tigers got on the board in the second inning when
Warren Laster hit an RBI single which allowed Smith to cross home plate.
In the bottom of the fourth, Smith hit his second home run in the doubleheader which tied the game up at three apiece. Texas College managed to score one more run in the top of the fifth before Grambling responded with two additional runs in the bottom half of the stanza when Medina cranked a double to left field which brought home Hernandez, then Medina eventually came home on a wild pitch as Ramirez took a base on balls.
The Tigers added four more insurance runs including a solo home run from
Ian Bailey.
Senior pitcher
Kaelin Woodard added five strike outs in the victory in relief for Grambling.
Smith finished the contest with a game-high three-RBI while teammate Laster finished with a game-high four hits in the win.

Grambling State returns to action on Friday, February 28 as they travel to Texas to face UTSA in a three-game series. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
