Box Score 3 SAN ANTONIO, Texas | The Grambling State Tigers were swept by Conference USA opponent UTSA over a three-game weekend series. Here's how the action went down in Texas.

The Roadrunners struck first with three runs in the bottom of the second inning and added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and enjoyed a 4-0 lead before Grambling (5-5) answered back in the top of the seventh inning with a run of their own when redshirt freshman
Jake Lane produced an RBI-ground out to second which brought home junior
Jeremy Almaguer for the Tigers only run of the contest. Redshirt junior
Ian Bailey was stranded on third base as the Tigers could not cut into the deficit anymore.
Grambling pitcher
Bryan Delgado (1-2) struck out three batters, giving up one earned run in seven innings of work.
Nehemiah Wright, Rafael Ramirez III,
Jordyn Smith, Bailey Lane all picked up hits in the loss.

Grambling (5-6) fell behind in the bottom of the second inning when the Roadrunners hit a home run to get on board and eventually jumped on top 4-0. UTSA went on to score in every remaining inning, but the Tigers finally got on the board with four runs in the top of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, sophomore
Warren Laster hit an RBI-single that brought home
Jahmoi Percival.
Moments later, Ramirez III, hit a three-RBI double down the third base line that allowed Laster,
Ry Clark and
Michael Sookdeo to touch home plate.
UTSA added five insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth to close out the scoring.
Grambling starting pitcher
Marc Luna (1-1) was credited with the loss as he struck out one batter and gave up seven earned runs in four innings of work in the loss.
Ramirez led the team in both hits (two) and RBIs (three).

In game three, the Tigers (5-7) got behind early and gave up five first-inning runs to the Roadrunners (10-2) and could not recover. However, Grambling managed two late runs in the top of the ninth when Bailey generated a two-RBI double down the third base line, bringing home Nemo Wright and Clark.

Jason Alvarez struck out a total of two Roadrunner batters and gave up five runs in the loss before being relieved by
Grant Landry. Senior
Kaelin Woodard and
JC Bonilla also got time on the mound for the Tigers in the series finale.
