GRAMBLING, La. | In conjunction with United Way of Southwest Louisiana (SWLA), members of the Grambling State University football team traveled to Lake Charles, La. for a community service project to assist those affected by Hurricane Laura.

"It was not only an honor but also a privilege to support our great state of Louisiana," said GSU head coach
Broderick Fobbs. "About 30 of our football players and a number of our coaches who were available made the trip down to Lake Charles for support."
The community service project was spearheaded by the senior class, including leaders
William Waddell and
Danquarian Fields.
The Grambling student-athletes and coaching staff assisted those affected by Hurricane Laura by handing out essentials like food, water, paper towels, toilet paper, deodorant and other items.
"So many people are hurting at this particular time," said Fobbs. "We met a lot of great people down there, and it was an honor to represent Grambling State University and the G-Men as we assisted those in need. That's what Louisiana does. Anytime there is a tough time or a tough situation, we all pull together as one. We were really fortunate to participate in the relief assistance for the hurricane."
