Second half struggles cause G-Men to fall 75-61 in battle of Tigers

Grambling outscored 41-28 in latter half

GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling trailed by just one point at the break, but gave up 41 second-half points in a 75-61 loss to Jackson State at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center in Southwestern Athletic Conference action. The game was dubbed Coaches vs. Cancer (Suits & Sneakers week) as coaches from both teams wore a combination of suits, sneakers and polo tops as a nationwide initiative uniting basketball coaches across the country for a common cause, saving lives from cancer.

Redshirt sophomore Sarion McGee led Grambling (5-8 overall, 3-3 SWAC) with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field while senior point guard Trevell Cunningham filled the stat sheet with 11 points, eight boards, five assists, one block, one steal and connected on 5-of-10 from the charity stripe.

Senior swingman Prince Moss added 10 points and nailed 2-of-3 from long range for Grambling, who lost their third home game of the season.

Tristan Jarrett produced a game-high 24 points for Jackson State (2-5 overall, 2-0 SWAC) who picked up their second straight conference victory.

Inside the Numbers

> Grambling State was 23-of-53 (43 percent) from the field and 13-of-25 (52 percent) from the charity stripe

> Jackson State shot 45 percent (27-of-60) from the field and 81 percent (17-of-21) from the free-throw line

> The GSU Tigers registered 31 rebounds, including 20 on the defensive end

> The JSU Tigers pulled down 35 rebounds, with 10 coming on the offensive end

> GSU finished with 30 points in the paint, seven points off turnovers, 16 bench points, 10 fast-break points and 13 second-chance points

> JSU registered 10 bench points, 36 points in the paint, 22 points off turnovers, seven fast-break points and 11 second-chance points
