CLINTON, Miss. | Grambling State University's
Sharon Labich captured the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) women's individual championship on Monday morning at the Choctaw Trails.
The Lady Tigers finished third at the SWAC Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships, with the men claiming the sixth spot.Â
WOMEN'S FINAL STANDINGS
- Grambling State finished with 88 points to claim the third spot
- Alcorn State surprised the field and won the championship with 68 points
- Alabama State claimed the second spot with 77 points
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff (112 points), Jackson State (136), Alabama A&M (158), Prairie View A&M (170), Southern (181), Texas Southern (201), Bethune-Cookman (215), Florida A&M (241) and Mississippi Valley State (248) rounded out the 12-team field
WOMEN'S RESULTS
- Grambling State had three runners finish inside the Top 20

Sharon Labich won the individual race on the 5K course by nearly 30 seconds, crossing the finish line in 17 minutes and 38 seconds

Naomi Kiprop placed fifth, with a time of 19:20.54

Lillian Thuo finished 16th in 20:10.84

Priscilla Kibet crossed the line in 21:17.39 for the 32nd spot

Deborah Kiplagat finished 34th in 21:25.41
- Judith Kiptanui was 58th, with a time of 23:40.07

Angelica Brown (62nd) also competed in the race

MEN'S FINAL STANDINGS
- Grambling State finished sixth with 123 points
- Jackson State won the meet with 61 points
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff claimed the third spot with 81 points, followed by Texas Southern (95) and Southern (121)
- Bethune-Cookman (162), Alcorn State (177), Alabama State (217), and Mississippi Valley State (236) rounded out the 10-team field
MEN'S RESULTS
- Grambling State had three runners finish inside the Top 15

Mathias Cheboi finished seventh on the 8K course, with a time of 26:18.73
- Aryamanua Rogers placed ninth, crossing the line in 26:57.12
- Bethwel Limo crossed the line in 27:04.35 for 13th
- Miciah Mles claimed 42nd, with a time of 30:25.06

Edwin Biwott finished 52nd in 33:29.31

Devin Malone (56th) and John Mayo (60th) also competed in the meet
