Kailey Pena scored two goals to help propel the Grambling State University women's soccer team to its third consecutive victory with a 3-1 triumph over Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Alcorn State on Sunday afternoon at Spinks-Casem Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Pena got things starting in the 20
th minute, striking the back of the net to put GSU (5-7-1 overall, 5-1-1 SWAC) up 1-0
- In the 41
st minute, with the scored tied 1-1,
Lindsay Jaiyesimi added a goal, putting the Lady Tigers back on top 2-1 at halftime
- The Lady Tigers added some insurance in the 55
th minute when Pena scored another goal, giving Grambling State a 3-1 lead. It was her fourth goal of the weekend
- GSU's defense clamped down in the second half, holding ASU (2-15, 0-8) scoreless over the final 45 minutes of play
