HOUSTON, Texas | The Grambling State University women's soccer team scored midway through the first half, but could not hold on to the lead in a 1-1 draw against Texas Southern in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game on Friday night at Campbell Road Sports Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 24th minute,
Lizbeth Aguero put GSU up 1-0 with her third goal of the season.
- GSU's defense held TSU (2-7-2 overall, 1-2-2 SWAC) in check for the bulk of the contest, but in the 71st minute, TSU's Ari Mendez tied game at 1-1.
- Grambling State (2-6-2, 2-0-1) had opportunities to win the game in regulation, but couldn't convert multiple shots into goals.
- In overtime, GSU outshot TSU 11-1. However, they weren't able to breakthrough and put TSU away.
