Box Score 4 VICKSBURG, Miss. | The Grambling Lady Tigers softball program earned its first two victories of the season at the 2021 River City Classic as the team went 2-2 over the course of the classic.
Here's how the action panned out at the Red River Classic:
Game 1
Tennessee State 4 Grambling 1
Grambling trailed 1-0 after the first inning before tying the ball game in the second when redshirt sophomore
Tyra Triplett reached home plate off of an error from Tennessee State shortstop Lauren Farias. However, TSU answered back in the bottom stanza to retake the lead when Grambling pitcher and redshirt junior
Ja'Lynn Bonner walked TSU's Ivory Jones with the bases loaded.
Tennessee State closed the door on any Grambling comeback attempt when it scored an insurance run in both the fifth and sixth innings respectively.
Redshirt sophomore Anayiah Fultz generated the Lady Tigers' only hit of the game as she returned to her hometown of Vicksburg, Miss.

Payton Shells got the start for Grambling and gave up an early home run to TSU's Kayli Mothershed. The Tigers of Tennessee added four more runs in the top of the fourth before Grambling responded with its first run of the ball game when Fultz crossed home plate with an RBI-double from teammate
Tytianna Robinson.
After a scoreless inning for TSU, the Tigers cut the deficit to 5-2 with an RBI-single from redshirt junior
Morgan Adams which brought home redshirt sophomore
Kayla Robinson. After a scoreless sixth inning from both (Lady) Tigers squads, TSU answered back with a run in the top of the seventh to take a 6-2 lead before Grambling scored its final run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with an RBI-single from Fultz which brought home K. Robinson yet again.
K. Robinson led the Grambling State Lady Tigers with two runs and two hits in the loss.

Grambling State will host Jarvis Christian on Tuesday, March 9 for its home opener in non-conference action. First pitch from the GSU Softball Complex is set for 2 p.m.
