JACKSON, Miss. | Grambling scored a total of seven runs in two innings and survived a late push as the Tigers defeated Jackson State 7-6 at Sports Force Park in Southwestern Athletic Conference action.

Morgan Adams, a Preseason All-SWAC Selection, had a sensational afternoon as she led the team with a 2-run home run in the fourth inning to give GSU an early lead before freshman
Sherrell Matthews, who batted DH, generated another 2-run home run later in the inning to extend the lead to 4-0.
Adams later bombed another 2-run shot in the fifth inning to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead and never looked back. The junior finished with a game-high 4-RBI in the victory.

Payton Shells (1-2) picked up the win, striking out three batters while allowing six runs in 5.2 innings of work while
Janecia King was credited with the save as she put in 1.1 innings of work.
