BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Grambling State's Kailey Pena, Alabama State's Mary Martin Mooneyham, and Alabama A&M's Jodi Medina for SWAC Soccer Weekly Honors for their outstanding performances during competition in league play.
Offensive Player of the Week
Pena added two more goals to her amazing season as the Lady Tigers defeated Jackson State 3-0 in conference action.
Defensive Player of the Week
Martin Mooneyham was a significant part of a ASU defense that recorded a pair of shutouts this weekend against Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern. She also scored the game-winning goal in the 87th minute to defeat Prairie View A&M,
1-0, on the road.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Medina delivered another outstanding week as she posted two more shutouts while making 10 saves on 25 shots faced. Opening the week at Texas Southern she faced 15 shots and made four saves in 90 minutes to secure her second shutout of the season before delivering an even more impressive performance at PVAMU. Medina made six saves, including five with the game deadlocked
at 0-0 until the 76th minute, while facing 10 shots.
