Nacogdoches, Texas. | Caleb Clines walloped his first home run of the season which resulted in a grand slam to bring the tigers within one run in the 8th inning, but it wasn't enough as the Grambling State University baseball team dropped a midweek road contest to Stephen F. Austin University Tuesday afternoon at Jaycees Field.
Stephen F. Austin (12-13 overall, 9-7 Southland Conference) opened the scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning. Grambling State University (9-15, 6-3 SWAC) tied it 1-1 with a run at the top of the second.
Keylon Mack doubled to center field.
Ben Avila was hit by pitch. Christian Mervilus walked and advanced both runners to second and third to load the bases.
Cameron Phelts generated a sacrifice fly-RBI for the first run of the game for the Tigers.
Jahmoi Percival led the Tigers as he produced a total of two runs, two hits, including a double and a triple, and two stolen bases.
Grambling entered the top of the 8th inning trailing 7-2 looking to rally back. With the bases loaded,
Caleb Clines subbed in to pinch hit for Christian Mervilus and crushed a grand slam to right field which cut the deficit to 7-6 to cap off a 4-run inning for the Tigers.
Grambling State was matched by a three-run inning by the Lumberjacks in the bottom of the 8th inning to increase their lead to 10-6. The Tigers attempted to rally back in the top of the 9th inning to complete the comeback, but was only able to plate two runs in the 9th inning.

- Ben Edmond (3-0) started for Stephen F. Austin and went 3.0 innings. He gave up two runs on three hits, walked three, and struck out one.
- Clay Kennedy, Pedro Cuellar, Joe Lope, John Dominguez, Ian Siemonsma, Grant Zwald, and Tod Gauthe pitched in relief.
- Tod Gauthe picked up his 6th save of the season.
