HOUSTON, Texas | Alexavier Monfries continues to make a name for himself as he claimed third in the 400m dash to highlight action during Grambling State University's indoor men's and women's track & field performance on Saturday at the FasTrack Collegiate Challenge.
Monfries, who claimed the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Friday, finished third in the 400m. He crossed the line in 48.36 and was behind Phillip Osei (Canada) and Jalon White (McNeese State).
WOMEN'S NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Rayna Whyte finished 11th and equaled her season's best in the 60m hurdle prelims, with a time of 9.09
- In the 60m prelims, Kyla Blockett crossed the line in 7.97, which was good for 17th
- In the shot put, Aneisha Bell placed 16th, with a toss of 12.01m
- Bell also claimed 11th in the weight throw at 14.76m
MEN'S NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- Lawrence Lambert finished tied for fourth, with a leap of 6.91m in the long jump
- Lambert placed fifth in the triple jump, leaping 13.81m

Grambling State returns to action on Feb. 4 at the Bayou Bengal, hosted by LSU.
