Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team got off to a quick start versus Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Alabama State, but couldn't maintain its lead, dueling to a 1-1 draw at the ASU Soccer Complex on Friday night
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grambling State (5-7-2 Overall, 2-1-2 SWAC) cracked the scoring column first when Imogen Fowler placed a masterful shot in the top right corner of the goal, to put the Lady Tigers up 1-0 in the 12th minute. Aria Whitney and Beatriz Kretteis were credited with assists.
- Alabama State (3-6-3, 1-0-2) responded immediately, when Kassandra Schoen scored, tying the game at 1-1 in the 13th minute.
- In the second half, GSU continued to threaten the ASU net, firing eight shots, but couldn't get the game-winning goal it was searching for.
- For the majority of the contest, GSU's defense limited scoring opportunities for the Hornets, allowing just two shots on goal.
