Box Score

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | The Grambling State University women's soccer secured its spot in Sunday's Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Soccer Championship game with a dominating 3-1 victory over Southern University on Friday night at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.

In stark contrast from Thursday's quarterfinal matchup with Alcorn State that saw the Lady Tigers edge the Lady Braves in extra time, GSU jumped on top of SU early and often, leaving no doubt on the scoreboard.

The victory secures GSU a spot in the SWAC Title Game for the fifth time in the past six seasons. It's also the Lady Tigers' third consecutive trip to the championship round.

  • Nia Harley sprinted past the Southern defense and netted a one-touch goal, stretching the lead to 3-0.
  • Southern (9-9-2, 5-3-1)would score a late goal in the 74th minute, but couldn't get any closer to the Lady Tigers.
