Box Score 2 VICKSBURG, Miss. | The Grambling State University softball team opened its season at the River City Classic by splitting a pair of games, falling 1-0 to Tennessee State and defeating Kentucky State, 13-7, on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tennessee State opened the top of the first scoring on the second play of the game as Jasmine Brown came across the plate on an RBI sacrifice bunt from Lauren Farias
- Grambling State (1-1) left a runner on third as Tytiana Robinson grounded out to third to close out the first inning
- Grambling State defeated Kentucky State, 13-7, in the second game
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State finished with one hit and registered four errors
- Tennessee State had one run on five hits, with three errors
- Dacia Richard took the loss in all seven innings. She fanned four and struck out one
- Raven Loveless earned the victory with two strikeouts and two walks in seven innings
UP NEXT
The Lady Tigers return to the turf for a second day of the River City Classic to face off with Kentucky State at 11 a.m. and Tennessee State at 1:15 pm.
