FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. | The Grambling State University baseball team put forth a stronger effort at the plate, tallying 11 hits, but couldn't overcome No. 3 Arkansas. The Tigers fell 13-3 in eight innings at Baum-Walker Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Shemar Page and Trevor Hatton had the hot bats for GSU, with both players going 3-for-4. Page also notched an RBI on a solo home run in the second inning. Jarficur Parker who turned in a multi-hit effort going, went 2-for-4 with a solo homer.
Jacorey Boudreaux (0-2) made his second start versus a power conference opponent this, working one full inning, allowing three runs on two hits, with two strikeouts and a pair of walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
- Trailing 3-0 in the top of the second inning, Grambling State's Shemar Page cranked a leadoff solo home run to right field to get the Tigers on the board. After Trevor Hatton hit a one out single, Keylon Mack stroked an RBI double to left centerfield, cutting Arkansas' lead to 3-2.
- Corbin Peters found trouble in the bottom of the second when the Razorbacks loaded the bases with one away. Despite an infield single leading to a run, Peters got the Tigers out of the inning relatively unscathed, retiring the next two batters. GSU (5-12) trailed 4-2 heading to the third.
- Jarficur Parker found some power in the top of third, smashing a solo home run to left, trimming the Razorbacks' lead to 4-3.
- However, Arkansas (13-3) outscored the Grambling State 9-0 over the final five innings to earn the run-rule victory.

Grambling State returns to the friendly confines of Wilbert Ellis Field at R.W.E Jones Park for a three-game series versus Prairie View A&M to open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play this weekend. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Friday.
