BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Grambling State University sophomore outfielder LaMarcus Jones has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Hitter of the Week, announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Jones had a phenomenal week at the plate, going 7-for-15 (.467) with nine RBI, two home runs and two doubles. He helped lead Grambling State to 19-8 victory over Alabama State to wrap up its weekend series, as well as midweek victories over Wiley College.
On the season, the St. Gabriel, La. native is batting .258 and second on the on the team in home runs (2) and is tied for third in RBI (10).

Grambling State fans can catch Jones and the rest the Tigers in action this weekend as GSU hosts Prairie View A&M in a three-game series to open conference play. First pitch is set for this Friday at 6 p.m.
