GRAMBLING, La. | Fourteen hits and three home runs wasn't enough to give GSU it's first non-conference win of the season, as the Tigers dropped game two of its series with Eastern Illinois, 13-11, on Saturday afternoon at Wilbert Ellis Field at RWE Jones Park. 
For the second consecutive night, GSU registered double-digit hits, this time adding homers from Cameron Bufford, John Garcia and Trevor Hatton. GSU used a nine-run fourth inning to erase an early 7-0 deficit.
Bufford went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. John Garcia turned in a 3-for-5 performance with three RBI. Hatton's homer highlighted a 1-for-5 outing.
Jarficur Parker returned to the lineup as the designated hitter for the Tigers, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and a RBI.
GSU starting pitcher Roy Peguero worked 2.0 innings, surrendering five runs on three hits with two walks and one strikeout. Malik Abdul (0-1) was charged with the loss giving up five runs on six hits with two Ks in 3.0 innings. 
HOW IT HAPPENED
	- Eastern Illinois jumped out to quick 5-0 lead in the second inning, punctuated by a grand slam by Lucas DiLuca. The Panthers added two more runs in the third inning to claim a commanding 7-0 lead.
- Grambling State woke up in the fourth inning, exploding for nine runs on eight hits. Cameron Bufford smashed a leadoff homer over the left field wall to cut the lead to 7-1. One batter later, John Garcia's solo jack to made the score 7-2.
- With one away and the bases loaded, Daylon Ardoin hit a single to second base to plate the third run of the game for the Tigers. Terry Burrell III followed with a bases clearing three-RBI double, pulling GSU within one, 7-6 with one out.
- Another one out RBI double, this time by Jarficur Parker, scored Burrell to tie the game at 7-7.
- Following another hit by Bufford, Garcia hit a single to second base, bringing Bufford around to score. A throwing error by second baseman DiLuca, allowed a second run to score, placing Grambling State in front, 9-7.
- A solo home run from EIU's Lincoln Riley in the fifth inning cut GSU's lead to 9-8.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Daylon Ardoin drew a leadoff walk, then advanced to second base on a passed ball. After a sacrifice bunt moved him to third, an errant throw on a failed pickoff attempt allowed Ardoin to score, giving the Tigers a 10-8 advantage.
- Eastern Illinois snatched the lead back in the top of the seventh. With two runners on base, and two outs, Logan Eickhoff hit an RBI single to centerfield. Nathan Aide followed with three-run homer, handed the Panthers a 12-10 lead. 
- GSU closed to the gap back to one when Trevor Hatton stung a solo shot to left field. 
- Trailing 13-11 in the bottom of the ninth, Grambling State loaded the bases with two outs, but a strikeout in its final at-bat, sealed victory for Eastern Illinois. 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

- Saturday was marked the first multi-home run game of the season for GSU
- EIU starting pitcher Blake Malatestinic pitched 3.1 innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts
- Hayden Birdsong (1-1) earned the win, giving up two runs on two hits with six Ks.
