MONROE, La. and BATON ROUGE, La. | The Grambling State University men's and women's outdoor track and field teams were at different events over the weekend, with most of the team participating in the Warhawk Classic, hosted by ULM, while select members participated at the LSU Alumni Gold.
Prince Moss continued his outstanding spring by placing second in the high jump at the LSU Alumni Gold. He finished with a jump of 2.08m and was behind Slavko Stevic of Southeastern Louisiana. On the women's side, Ivory Davis claimed eighth in the 100m hurdles in 13.86, which was just one spot behind former Olympian Lolo Jones.
At the Warhawk Classic, Grambling State dominated the 5,000m as Ruth Kibet and Mercy Kwambai gave Grambling State a 1-2 finish on the women's side, while Mathias Cheboi the men's event.
WOMEN'S NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- In the hammer throw, Aneisha Bell placed fourth, with a toss of 44.82m
- Dior Nicholson finished seventh in the shot put at 12.35m
- Nicholson places seventh in the discus throw, with a toss of 37.18m, while Bell claimed ninth at 32.83m
- Ruth Kibet and Mercy Kwambai gave GSU a 1-2 finish in the 5,000m in 18:37.87 and 19:11.54, respectively. Lillian Thuo (21:10.76), Debroah Kiplagat (22:16.92) and Ce'Arion Turner (27:46.49) went 7th through 9th in the event
- Kibet claimed sixth in the 1,500m in 4:55.19, while Kwambai finished eighth in 5:06.00
- Rayna Whyte claimed eighth in the 100m hurdles, with a time of 14.62
- Dayna Sterling just missed the top spot in the 400m hurdles, clocking a time of 1:04.37
MEN'S NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
- In the long jump, Tyson Duncan placed fourth, with a leap of 6.85m
- Duncan finished third in the high jump at 1.83m
- Terrence Bell Jr., recorded a seventh-place finish in the shot put, with a toss of 12.21m
- Mathias Cheboi won the 5,000m, with a time of 15:30.09
- Cheboi placed sixth in the 1,500m, clocking a time of 4:16.04
- In the 3,000m steeplechase, Aryamanua Rogers just missed the top spot in 10:31.87
- Dante Montaque and Antony Davis were sixth and seventh, respectively, in 110m hurdles, with times of 15.79 and 15.90
- In the 100m dash, Kimani Gardner claimed eighth with a personal record of 10.52
- Miciah Myles placed ninth in the 800m, with a time of 2:01.18

Grambling State concludes the regular season May 5-7 at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Championships, hosted by Prairie View A&M University, in Prairie View, Texas.
