Box Score 2 PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | The Grambling State University softball team took a hard fall in its three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) weekend series at Prairie View, Texas over the weekend. The Lady Tigers were blanked, 9-0, in game one, and fell 7-3 and 4-2 in the Saturday doubleheader.
GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Prairie View A&M scored in the bottom of the first on two hits taking a 1-0 lead
- The Panthers had a huge second inning scoring six runs off of seven hits and leaving on base for a 7-0 lead over GSU
- Prairie View A&M scored two more runs in the bottom of the third going on to secure the 9-0 win in five innings
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State finished with two hits, no runs and no errors
- Prairie View A&M finished with 12 hits, nine runs and one error
- Payton Shells took the loss for GSU throwing one inning and allowing six runs, five hits and five errors
- Cailin Massey recorded the win for Prairie View pitching three innings and striking out three batters
GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grambling State (21-21 overall, 8-12 SWAC) scored first to open the game as Tytianna Robinson singled scoring Ta'Mya Johnson
- Prairie View A&M (15-27, 15-8) took the lead, 2-1, in the bottom of the first Jaylyn Davis hit a sacrifice fly to score Aniya Spangler
- GSU attempted to tie the game in the top of the fourth as Jayda Williams reached on an error and Antiya Randle scored. GSU continued to trail 3-2
- Prairie View A&M scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth and another one in the bottom of the seventh to seal the 7-2 victory
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State recorded eight hits, three runs and no errors
- Prairie View finished with seven hits, seven runs and two errors
- Dacia Richard suffered the loss for GSU pitching four innings, allowing six runs, walking three batters, six hits and six errors
- Hailey Elizarraras listed the win for Prairie View pitching three innings and only allowing one run
