BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Grambling State University redshirt junior
India Wells was selected to the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Softball Postseason Second Team, the conference announced on Tuesday morning.

Wells, who was an All-SWAC Preseason Second Team second baseman, batted .345 in 46 games played this season. She registered a team-high 49 hits, including three doubles. In addition, she drove in a team-high 21 runs and scored 26 times. The McRae, Ga. native was 23-of-29 on the base paths.

In Tuesday's SWAC Softball Tournament opener against Alabama State, Wells went 3-for-3, with one run scored.

Alabama State's Kindall Deramus was tabbed the SWAC Player of the Year, while Bethune-Cookman's Laura Watten earned SWAC Coach of the Year Honors. Bivana Figueroa, of Prairie View A&M, was named the Hitter of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, while Hannah Ortega, of Bethune-Cookman, garnered Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors.

Grambling State fell into the elimination bracket in the 2022 SWAC Softball Championship and will meet the loser of the Texas Southern/Jackson State game on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 9 a.m. from the Gulfport Sportsplex in Gulfport, Miss.
