GULFPORT, Miss.| The Grambling State University softball team closed out it's season with a 10-3 loss to Jackson State in an elimination game at the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Softball Tournament Wednesday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Jackson State (22-26, 12-12 SWAC) broke the game open in the top of the second as Lauren Stewart tripled to centerfield bringing in three runs making the score 4-0
-JSU went on to score four more runs in the top of the second to take a 8-0 lead
-Grambling State (24-24, 11-13 SWAC) scored in the bottom of the second as Anaiyah Fultz singled up the middle scoring Deija Russell and Dazzlyn Woodard
-Jackson State's Stewart tripled again to the right side for an RBI scoring Samiyyah Huckabee
-Hermariya Stephens grounded out to second base as Stewart scores and JSU took a 10-2 lead
-Antiya Randle came to the plate for GSU hitting an RBI single up the middle to score Kaytlyn Moore
-The deficit was too much for GSU to comeback from after keeping the game alive as Jackson State moved on and took the 10-3 victory
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Grambling State finished with four hits, three runs and one error
-Jackson State finished with 11 hits, 10 runs and three errors
-Payton Shells (5-5) took the loss in the circle for GSU allowing five runs, five errors and walking one batter
-Takiya Hill walked away with the win for JSU striking out two batters and allowing four hits
