Howard Selected as Panelist During Annual CoSIDA Convention

Will Also Chair as President of the SWAC SIDs

GRAMBLING, La. | Grambling State University Senior Associate AD for Athletic Communications, Brian Howard, was selected as a panelist during the annual CoSIDA Convention June 26-29 in Las Vegas. 

Howard, who has been a member of the NCAA Division I Cabinet with CoSIDA for over the past two years, will speak on a panel discussion "Advocating/Highlighting the Impact of the SID," during divisional day at the convention. 

"I am extremely honored to be selected to be on this panel," Howard said. "I look forward to the discussion and talking about the importance of sports information directors and the roles they play in athletics and on college campuses." 

John Paquette, the Senior Associate Commissioner in Sports Media Relations at the Big East Conference, will lead the discussion. Howard will be joined on the panel by DeWayne Peevy, the Vice President and Director of Athletics at DePaul University, Amy Yakola, Deputy Commissioner and Chief of External Affairs at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and Matt Ensor, Assistant AD of Communications Services at the University of Arizona. 

CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) was founded in 1957 and is a 3,200+ member national organization comprised of the sports public relations, media relations and communications/information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada.  

In addition to being selected a panelist at CoSIDA, Howard was also selected the chair and will serve as the President of the Sports Information Directors in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). He was voted on by his peers for this position. 

"This is an outstanding honor and an accomplishment," Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Dr. Trayvean Scott, said. "We encourage all of our staff members to build and cultivate relationships within the industry. Brian's success in this field speaks for itself and we know he will do well in this leadership position."
