Lady Tigers Suffer defeat to Northwestern State

GRAMBLING, La. | It was a tough going for the Grambling State University women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon as the Lady Tigers fell 5-1 to Northwestern State at the GSU Soccer Complex

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the 27th minute, Northwestern State's (2-1-1) Natalee Henry put NSU on top 1-0, a lead that the Demons carried into the halftime break.
  • GSU's (2-4) Samantha Diaz knotted the game 1-1 in the 51st minute off of an assist from Beatriz Kretteis
  • Northwestern State poured on three goals in the final 11 minutes of the contest, cruising to the 5-1 win. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • GSU attempted nine shots, placing seven on frame
  • NSU put eight of its 18 shot attempts on goal. 
  • GSU goalkeeper Madison Covey-Taylor played all 84 minutes, making three saves
  • Abbie Dickens entered the contest with five minutes to play
  • Grambling State committed 21 fouls; Northwestern State committed 10
  • NSU held a 10-1 advantage on corner kicks
