GRAMBLING, La. | Less than a week after clinching the Southwestern Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship, the Grambling State University women's soccer team completed its unbeaten run in conference play with 3-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Friday after at the GSU Soccer Complex.
The Tigers concludes the 2023 regular season with a 12-4-4 overall record and an 8-0-1 record in SWAC play.
Beatriz Kretteis scored two of GSU's three goals on the day, helping lift the Tigers to the dominating victory.
Defensively, Grambling State smothered the Golden Lions, limiting UAPB to just four shots on the day. On the other side of the pitch, the Tigers unleashed 16 shots with 10 being on goal.
How It Happened
- Naya Vialva got GSU on the board just before halftime, scoring on a free kick in the 44th minute.
- The Tigers' next goal came by way of a penalty kick. UAPB's Brisha Musungu committed a foul inside the penalty area in the 53rd minute. Kretteis lined up her penalty kick, beautifully placing it in the right corner of the net, giving GSU a 2-0 lead.
- Kretteis struck again less than a minute later with her second score of the day, stretching the advantage to 3-0.
