BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Grambling State University indoor track & field team continued to build on its momentum on Sunday afternoon, producing several top 10 results at the South Alabama Invitational at the Birmingham CrossPlex on Sunday afternoon.
Lawerence Lambert impressed the audience, leaping away with second place in the men's long jump. Lambert had a distance of 7.14m, finishing just behind Mateo smith of Louisiana Tech (7.25m). Christian Lewis also finished in the top 10, with a eighth place e jump of 6.79m.
Jamie Richardson notched third place for the Tigers in the women's high jump. She clinched the third spot with a jump of 1.69m
Grambling State looked solid in both the men's and women's 60m hurdles. On the men's side, Dakari Betts took home a top five position. Betts claimed fifth place with a personal record time of 8.09. Rainey Anderson just missed out on the top 10, earning 12th place (8.39). Ivory Davis represented well for the ladies, sprinting into eighth place (8.86).Â
Kyla Blockett continued to be a force in the women's 60 meter dash, coming in 11th with a time of 7.70.Â
Malachi Johnson turned in a strong run in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 49.99 to claim 12th place.
Ruth Kibet, Mercy Kwambai and Lillian Thou competed for the Tigers in the women's 1 mile run. Kibet paced the the ladies with a 26th place finish, clocking in at 5:39.25. Kwambai and Thou finished in 28th and 32nd.
In the women's shot put, for Nicholson wrapped up 11th place with a toss of 12.58mÂ
Malachi Johnson turned in a strong run in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 49.99 to claim 12th place.Â
Jahorous Turner also nearly notched a top 10, coming in 11th in the men's long jump (1.86m).
