GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State bowling team concluded the 2022-2023 season showing improvement from the 2021-2022 season.
Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Trayvean Scott commended the program on their improvement. "Very proud of Coach Bates and his group of remarkable student-athletes." said Scott. "The best is yet to come!"
The team average improved from 135 in 2021-2022 to 145 in 2022-2023 while the single-tournament high improved from 145.2 to 153.9.
Individually, all returning bowlers showed improvement from the prior season with Alexandria Williams improving by 21.173 pins moving from and average of 154.233 in 2021-2022 to 175.406 in 2022-2023, and Bre'nay Durant improving 12.573 pins moving from 143.467 to 156.04.
"It has been a privilege to coach this team," said head coach Allamont Bates. "I look forward to continued improvement in the years to come."
Season highlights include a program high score of 278 from Alex Williams at the TNBA/HBCU invitational. Williams also recorded the third highest season average (175.406) in program history among bowlers who competed in at least 30 matches.
